Sickness and Medication
If your child is absent for any reason, please be sure to ring school before 8.45am on the day of each absence. If your child is likely to be absent for more than one day , please telephone the school to let us know as soon as possible.
If your child becomes ill during the day, we would like to telephone you to ask you to take your child home. It is important that the admission form is returned with a least 3 emergency contact numbers. Please remember to inform school if contact numbers change.
We will always try our best to help our children in any way we can. Children who suffer from asthma and need access to inhalers must bring them to school. The class teachers will store these safely in classrooms. All inhalers need to be clearly marked with the child’s name.
Antibiotics that are prescribed for three times daily cannot be given at school but can be given at breakfast time, teatime and bedtime. They do not need to be brought into school. A form is available from the office if antibiotics are prescribed four times daily. A family member can also administer medicines prescribed for four times daily at lunchtime.
If your child requires regular medication of any other kind please speak to Mrs Hazeldine so that correct provision can be made.
All medications, including inhalers can only be given once a medical form has been completed.
Mrs Hazeldine will support parents to complete individual health care plans which are then shared with all relevant staff if and when required.
Please ensure that your child’s teacher is made aware of any hearing, vision or speech problems.
